FAQ

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is call TEDxBMS, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxBMS event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Why should I attend TEDxBMS?

TEDx talks are given by great speakers who are specialized and passionate in a specific area. They are chosen to talk not only because of their thoughts but also their unique experience. You may be inspired by one of their speeches and thus change the way you think or work, or even your life. Why not make an attempt and enjoy a meal of great thoughts from all around the world.

We welcome you to join us if you appreciate engaging and diverse speakers, enjoy interacting with local and non-local people who’ll inspire you, want to hear how “regular people” are positively influencing the world and want to become involved in a well-known international community devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading.

What does “Connecting Cultures” mean?
Culture transcends nationality, but is intricately linked to it as well. In a globalized and connected world, being able to effectively reach out, understand, and communicate across cultures is essential. The theme ‘Connecting Cultures’ embraces this idea of intercultural interaction, and aims to shed light on the importance of connections between different cultures, and also share innovative ideas to embrace diversity as well as inculcate the concepts of maximizing the potential of diverse groups.

Culture is a diverse theme and therefore the main topics that will be explored are Education, Business, Society and Global Citizenship.

Who is presenting at TEDxBMS?
We have a diverse mix of speakers who you probably won’t see anywhere else. They are people who can relate to our theme ‘Connecting Cultures’ and are passionate about it. We’ll be announcing members of our top shelf line-up as we get closer to the event.
